Missionaries will speak at Sparta church

Sparta — Missionaries Bob and Meredith Devoe answered God’s call to serve in full-time ministry in 1999. After attending Word of Life Bible Institute, the Devoes graduated from Davis College and, in August of 2006, they moved to Jos, Nigeria, in West Africa. Now back in the U.S., Bob will be preaching at two Sunday morning services on Dec. 13, 8:30 a.m., and 10a.m., at Sparta Presbyterian Church, 32 Main St., in Sparta. While in Nigeria, a country that boasts a population of about 140 million people with a diverse mix of religious and ethnic groups, Bob and Meredith Devoe have been establishing a vital youth ministry in a culture that historically has spent none of its resources on youth, by giving aid to area churches with youth clubs, leadership training and curriculum. They also have reached out to surrounding states with evangelistic crusades and a drama ministry. The Devoes are hoping to return to Nigeria on Dec. 28.
