NEWTON — Three years ago a dream started Shawn Hirschel on the path of painting. This Saturday, the Newton High School junior will celebrate the opening of his first exhibition, called “Psychedelic Emersion of the Mind’s Dream” at an artist’s reception at the Lena DiGangi Gallery at 320 Union Blvd. in Totowa. This will be the second reception, as the first one, slated for last Saturday, was interrupted by a power outage. The reception is planned for March 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. As a young aspiring artist Shawn wants his art and message to be shared with the world. He said, “Art is a very straightforward word which involves a merging of all cultures. Art has no barriers and can be easily expressed with firm untainted energetic colors. Among some of his own favorite artists are Dali, Goya, Pollock, Vermeer and Warhol.
