BRANCHVILLE — Professional sommelier and gourmet chef Frances Delgado will host “An Evening of Women and Wine” at George’s Wine & Spirits Gallery in Branchville on Saturday, May 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will highlight wines from three wineries headed by women, including E. & J. Gallo Winery, MacMurray Ranch and Whitehaven Wine Company. The evening is co-sponsored by George’s Wine & Spirits Gallery and Wards Flowers & Gifts. All participants will receive a complimentary rose, along with the opportunity to win floral arrangements, wine baskets, gourmet food baskets, and even a gift from Swarovski Crystal. Proceeds from the event will benefit Project Self-Sufficiency. Delgado has worked in the hospitality industry as a professional chef and sommelier for more than 20 years. She worked at several well-known establishments, including Windows on the World. Frances and her husband and fellow sommelier George Delgado teamed up to open George’s Wine & Food Gallery in Branchville following 9/11. . “There is a need in this community for the kind of social services provided by Project Self-Sufficiency,” she said. “I firmly believe in education and I am a big supporter of the kind of services which help children to have a better life. If you can get some of the mothers of these children who come from single parent households, or those who are displaced homemakers, to get training and find some self-esteem, it can only help to make the community a better place.” Tickets are $50 per person and reservations are required.
