Sussex — Every spring Mother’s Day arrives at Space Farms Zoo with a baby boom. “Native animals have their young in the spring. That gives the babies three abundant seasons long to grow and thrive in preparation for their first winter,” said Fred Space, co-owner with his son Parker, of the hundred acre zoo. New babies in the zoo include Siren the African lion cub, three American Buffalo calves, an auburn Scottish Highland calf, nineteen kid goats (three sets of triplets), nine Saudi Arabian Mouflon lambs, Tiny Tim a small month old llama, assorted chicks, duckies and numerous wild goslings, so far. “Our yearling black bear cubs are seen daily climbing in the zoo trees,” said Fred Space. Mother’s Day at the zoo is a special day for families. A drawing is held for a coveted Family Season Pass that enables the winning mom to bring her family to the zoo, as often as they wish, from Mother’s Day until the zoo closes Oct. 31. Space Farms Zoo and Museum is located on Route 519 in Sussex and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $14 per adult, $9.50 per child and $13 for seniors. Season passes and group rates are available. For more information call 973-875-5800 or visit www.spacefarms.com.
