We only want what we deserve — a fair and equitable settlement for our members

To the Editor:

We are the Sparta Education Association. We are the paraprofessionals, secretaries, teachers, nurses, trainers, school counselors, child study team, specialists, therapists, and librarians. Every day, we spend almost eight hours with your children. We teach, guide, help, and support them in a million different ways. Many of us coach and advise for hours before and after school as well.

You may have noticed us outside the buildings in the mornings or received an automatic reply to an email you’ve sent us. Those small actions are intended to remind the community that we are working with an expired contract.

We are not asking for any outrageous things; we only want what we deserve — a fair and equitable settlement for our members. The 470+ educators of SEA will continue to do what we do best — provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students.
