Freeholders not concerned with county taxpayer

| 01 May 2019 | 01:39

With (4) of the (5) Sussex County Freeholders voting to adopt their 2019 Sussex County Budget with its obscene $1,777,583 tax increase, it's obvious that the Freeholders are not concerned about us taxpayers' financial well-being. To his credit, Freeholder George Graham did vote against the Budget.
A quick look at a few items contained in the their 2019 Budget:
The Sheriff's Department combined 2019 budget appears to be $17,471,830, which is $2,064,163.13, or 13.40 percent, more than the $15,407,666.87 that the department spent in 2018. Why?
For the Employee Group Insurance the 2019 budget is $18,417,297, which is $2,705,641.63, or 17.22 percent, more than the $15,711,656.37 that was spent in 2018. Why?
For salaries and wages the 2019 budget appears to be $33,371,330 ($32,811,330 + $560,000), which is $3,372,283.96, or 11.24 percent, more than the $29,999,046.04 that was spent in 2018. Why?
With slush funds such as these, the freeholders couldn't find any way to eliminate their obscene $1,777,583 tax increase? Why?
What ever happened to the Republican Party's smaller government and lower taxes? Are they all RlNOs?
When paying your exorbitant taxes and when voting please remember that Freeholders Dawn Fantasia, Joshua Hertzberg, Sylvia Petillo and Herbert Yardley all voted to sock us taxpayers with their obscene $1,777,583 tax increase.
Will the last taxpayer to bail out of Sussex County please turn out the lights?
