VERNON — Vernon art students won three of four scholarships awarded during a recent show at William Paterson University.

Six Vernon Township High School art students displayed their work in the show — ArtStart — which featured the work of more than 100 students from 20 area high schools.

Vernon’s James Pruiksma, Dave Blauvelt, Taylor Bartsch, Jin Young Choi, Kacper Duba and Samantha LeCour were featured in the show. At the reception, the university awarded four “talent” scholarships to students who were seeking admission into their bachelor of fine arts program. Vernon students nearly swept the awards. Dave Blauvelt, Jin Young Choi and Samantha LeCour received the honor. In addition, Samantha LeCour won an honorable mention for her still-life drawing.
