Turner a leading thrower for NJIT

Vernon. Area graduate places 11th in hammer throw at ASUN championships in Jacksonville, Fla.

Shannon Turner (Vernon High School) was a senior competitor in throwing events for the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (Newark) women’s outdoor track and field program.

Turner, listed as a chemical engineering major, is a four-time member of the ASUN Outdoor All-Academic Team. She also earned ASUN Conference 2018-2019 Spring Winners For Life Team honors.

Turner placed 11th in the hammer throw at the ASUN Outdoor Championships held in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bryan Franko (High Point High School) was a sophomore infielder for the Ramapo College baseball team this year. Franko, listed as an accounting major played in 24 games and started in 18 of them for Ramapo. He had a .289 batting average with 22 hits including four doubles and a home run. Franko also had 10 RBIs and scored 16 runs.

The Roadrunners had an overall record of 26-14 with a mark of 7-5 on their home field. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) they had a record of 13-5. They advanced to the NJAC Tournament where they went 2-2 with victories over Rutgers-Newark and Rowan University and losses to The College of New Jersey (twice).

Jaycee Sandberg, a graduate of High Point High School was a sophomore defender for the Ramapo College women’s lacrosse team this spring. Sandberg, listed as a Chemistry major competed in five games for Ramapo.

The Roadrunners tallied an overall record of 7-5 with a mark of 4-3 at home. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference they had one victory.

Ryan Gebhardt (Wallkill Valley High School) was a junior on the roster of the Rowan University men’s outdoor track and field team this year. Gebhardt placed sixth in the javelin throw at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University in Chester.

The Profs placed first at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Stockton University in Galloway Township. They placed second at the All-Atlantic Track and field Conference Championships held in Cortland.

Sierra Dutko (Wallkill Valley High School) was a sophomore who competed in throwing events for the Rowan University women’s track and field program. Dutko finished in 18th place in the javelin throw at the Danny Curran Invitational.

The Profs won the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships and placed third at the All Atlantic Track and Field Conference Championships.
