Never too hot for golf

Minerals Golf Course hosts third in a series of parent/youth golf tournaments.

A beautiful mid-summer day greeted parents and their children as they gathered to compete in the Mid-Summer Golf Classic at the Minerals Golf Club on Sunday, July 28.

The event was the third in a series of Parent/Youth Golf Tournaments hosted by the Crystal Springs Resort.

The tournament featured a two player team scramble format made up of a parent and their child. The competition was competed in three flights, the K to fourth grade, the 5th through 8th grade and the High School flights with prizes awarded to the teams in each flight with the lowest team score. An Awards Ceremony and buffet pizza, ham and cheese sandwich fest followed the golf tournament at the Minerals Sport Club Pavilion provided by the Crystal Springs Food & Beverage staff.

At the end of play the winner of the K-4th Grade Division was Patrick Garafano who carded a team score of 2 under par 29. Layton Swanson’s team finished 2nd with a even par 31. The winner for the 5th-8th Grade Division was Nick Theodorou’s team with a 3-under par 28 with the team of Ian Bellush with a 8 over par 38. The only female competing in the event took the High School Division win with a 4 over par 35 followed closely by the Avery Cohen team that took 2nd place with a score of 5 over par 36.
