Jefferson Rec to offer skate, hockey lesson

Oak Ridge. Jefferson Recreation and Skylands Ice World plan to offer 8 weeks worth of ice hockey and ice skating lessons.

    Jefferson Township Recreation is partnering with Skylands Ice World to offer a Learn to Skate program and entry level Youth Hockey lessons at its 2765 State Highway 23 Stockholm, NJ location.

    The entry level Youth Hockey lesson program will consist of 10 weeks of fast-paced hockey action coached by Patrick Choules, Skylands Ice World’s Hockey Director. The session will start on Monday, Nov. 18 and run through Monday, Feb. 3 from 6:10-7:10 pm. (no class on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30). The registration session cost is $170 with a $10 discount for early registration two days prior to the start date. A very limited supply of hockey equipment is available for loan, skates and helmets are available for rent. Dress for a winter outdoor activity.

    The Learn to Skate program will consist of 10 weeks of ice skating instruction coached by Skylands Skating Academy Director Kim Sutton-Murphy. Session options are Wednesdays from Dec. 4 through Feb. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm; Fridays from Dec. 6 through Feb. 21 from 6:20 to 7:20 pm; Pre-school Fridays from Dec. 6 through Feb. 21 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; or Saturdays, Dec. 7 through Feb. 22 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. (no classes on 12/25 and 1/1). Session includes 30 minutes of ice group instruction followed by 30 minutes of practice time.

    Both coaches have very extensive backgrounds and have excelled at every level and know what it takes to get to the next level.

    If registered two days prior to the start date, the 10-week program cost is $167; otherwise the cost is $177. Helmets and skates are available for rent, and US Figure Skating membership is required annually and included. Dress for a winter outdoor activity.
