Falcons nip PJ Lions in come-from-behind victory

Jefferson Township High School defeated Pope John XXIII Regional High School in varsity baseball on Friday, April 7, 2017. The final score was 7-5. The game took place at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta Township, New Jersey.
The Pope John Lions roared to a commanding 5-0 lead that stood until the sixth inning. Kevin Hughes got things rolling for the Jefferson Falcons by contributing a three-run double in the sixth.
Jefferson's Kyle Haller contributed a two-run home run in the seventh inning to tie the game 5-5. Mike Sullivan had a two-run single to seal the deal in the come from behind win for Jefferson.
Pitcher Zach Roskowsky picked up the win in relief for Jefferson.
The Jefferson Falcons the defending North 1, Group 2 champions, lost their season opener to Chatham, but took down Vernon and Pope John in back to back victories.
The Pope John Lions opened the season with a win over West Morris Mendham by the score 1-0 on April 3rd. But the loss to Jefferson is the second of the season for Pope John. Pope John suffered their other loss to Morris Hills High School (Rockaway, NJ) by the score 3-2 on April 5th.
