Ballyowen hosts third Crystal Cup qualifier

Franklin. Qualifying event attracted over 50 Crystal Springs resort members.

The 3rd Crystal Springs Golf Resort’s Crystal Cup Qualifying Tournament was played the Ballyowen Golf Club on Thursday, Aug. 15.

The event attracted over 50 Crystal Springs Golf Resort Members and guests seeking to add their names to the list of qualifiers for the end of season Crystal Cup Championship.

The format for this event was a 4 golfer team “Shamble” in which golfer tees off and the best of the tee shots is selected to play. Each team member then plays their own ball through the completion of the hole and all team members card their gross and net scores. The best team score is carded. At the conclusion of play the teams with the lowest gross and net scores were declared the winners of the tournament and qualify to compete in the end of season Crystal Cup Championship.

The team of Lisa Coe, Ted Brennan, Greg Michas and Tony Ulacco carded a low gross score of 16 under par 56 to achieve to claim the win. Second place went to the team of Chris O’Brien, Gene Komorowski, John Dankwerth and Robert Kennedy with 13 under par 59.

The low net winner was the team of Robert Dombroskii, Robert J. Dombroski, Richard Sandillo and John Pinto with a net score of 23 under par 49 followed by the team of Perry Kasturas, Mike Cricuoli, Eric Zemsky and Shelby Sarnowski with a 22 under par 50.

Prizes were also awarded to golfers who hit tee shots that were closest to the pin and the longest drive. The Men’s winner for longest drive was Robert J. Dombroski and Buffy Whiting was the winner of the longest drive competition for the women. Robert Dombroski Sr. won longest drive for the Senior Men. Robert J. Domroski became a repeat winner with his tee shot on hole #11 that landed 9 feet from the pin. The shot of Ommeed Shahrokh which came to rest 1 foot 10 inches from the cup was enough to win him closest to the pin honors on hole #4.
