A Hamburg man faces theft charges after Franklin police investigated theft from a construction site.
Aaron W. Hawkins, 34, was charged at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 25, on theft after police said he took recessed downlights without the owner's consent or knowledge.
At about 3 p.m., Franklin officers responded a construction site on in the borough on Sept. 21 for a reported theft of recessed downlights, small direct lighting units positioned within a ceiling. The units were not installed and in the manufacturers boxes.
Detectives investigated and determined that Hawkins had entered the construction site and removed several boxes of the recessed lighting valued at over $1,700 sometime in the early afternoon. Hawkins was further found to have an outstanding warrant from the township of Jefferson.
Jefferson Township released Hawkins on his own recognizance, leading to his arrest in Franklin.
Hawkins was remanded to the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing.
Investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may follow.
