A Franklin man faces charges after he was accused of making terroristic threats in the borough.
Dakota L. Barrett, 24, was charged with one count of making terroristic threats on Thursday, Aug. 8.
Franklin officers received a domestic violence complaint on Aug. 8 when the alleged victim reported being threatened. The threats made were physical and fatal harm to the complainant and to a child. Police said the threats also involved the use of a firearm to carry out the violence.
Police said they tried to contact Barrett at his Hamburg residence. After refusing to comply with officers at his home police executed a search warrant and Barrett was found on the second floor of his residence.
No firearm was located at that time.
Barrett was placed into custody and transported to the Franklin Borough Police Station for processing and further investigation.
Police said requested medical attention while in custody and was transported to Newton Medical Center by Saint Clare’s BLS.
He was turned over to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department, following his release from Newton Medical Center, and sent to the Sussex County Correctional Facility pending his appearance in Central Judicial Processing.
The investigation is ongoing and additional complaints may follow.
