Sheila A. Celentano, 44, of Franklin was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (two counts), Aggravated Assault on an Emergency Medical technician, Resisting Arrest, Driving While Intoxicated and numerous motor vehicle summons.

At about 5:07 p.m., Franklin Borough Officers were dispatched to the area of County Route 631 for a vehicle driving erratically with two flat tires.

Officers were advised that the driver of the vehicle in question had exited the moving vehicle and began running away down Newton Street in the borough while the vehicle rolled into a ditch off the roadway.

Upon their arrival, patrols found a female, later identified Celentano, barefoot and intoxicated. Celentano continually yelled profanities and resisted arrest. Police said Celentano was found to have an open container of an alcoholic beverage on her person while she was being placed under arrest.

While in police custody, police said Celentano kicked Sergeant Grissom in the chest. She also allegedly struck/kicked Detective Schneider in the chest.

Due to her level of intoxication, an ambulance was requested to transport her to a hospital. When the Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad was securing her in the ambulance, police said she kicked an emergency medical technician in the stomach.

Sheila was processed and released, as per the New Jersey Bail Reform act, pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing in Sussex County Superior Court. She was ultimately transported to the Newton Medical Center for evaluation.
