Logan Dipaolo, 24, of Chester, N.Y., was arrested in New Jersey on drug and gun charges, among other offenses.

Dipaolo's arrest led to the arrest of a Highland Lakes, N.J., man for drug possession.

At approximately 9:52 a.m. on Dec. 16, the Oakland, N.J., Police Department received a report from a concerned citizen about a person who was seen laying outside a vehicle on Franklin Avenue and appeared to need medical assistance, according to the police report.

Upon the arrival of Officer Tinio, the complainant reported that the person, later identified as Dipaolo, had gotten up and ran through a wooded area adjacent to I-287. Dipaolo was apprehended by Tinio and Detective Hintzen. Further investigation led to his arrest for driving under the influence.

A search of Dipaolo’s vehicle led to the discovery of several folds of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles. Questioning Dipaolo at the scene, police were led to a second person involved, Joseph Bokun, 22, of Highland Lakes, N.J., who was located by Officer Rowin at Walgreens and placed under arrest for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS). While in custody, further information developed that led to the discovery by Bergen County Sheriff’s Department canine officers of a handgun and an additional amount of CDS in the wooded area in which Dipaolo was seen running.

Police charged Dipaolo with several offenses, including driving under the influence, unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons not to have weapons, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, terroristic threats, and several motor vehicle offenses.

Bokun was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession drug paraphernalia.

Both men were remanded to Bergen County Jail.
