Twenty-five business students and members of the Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America toured Macy’s Herald Square in New York City on December 6, 2019.

This educational tour enabled students to view the holiday window display, learn the history of Macy’s, and understand the marketing concepts such an organization employs to get the customer to buy. The Macy’s Herald Square flagship store has been earmarked as a National Historic Landmark and showcases 4 million different kinds of merchandize. There are 11 floors with 7 eateries within the store. Fashion trends are displayed on over 50,000 mannequins within the 800 Macy stores; and these stores contain 70,000 lineal feet of escalators! Students were able to witness how business skills are utilized and how effective marketing produces positive results.
