One out of six teens report using a prescription drug to get high or change their mood. Unused drugs that remain in medicine cabinets and homes are highly susceptible to theft and misuse while opiate prescription pain relievers can lead to heroin addiction.
The Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities in partnership with Sussex County Law Enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Administration is promoting a nationwide effort this Saturday, April 27 2019.
This National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the DEA, is as a day to be part of the solution to reduce the misuse of prescription drugs and reduce the opiate abuse epidemic by safely and securely disposing of unwanted medicines at eleven different locations in Sussex County.
