Rainbow Reflections opens in new location

Rainbow Reflections by Rita is the newest store to move into the ever-expanding Shoppes at Lafayette. Like many other retailers, owner Rita Chimento moved her store because she saw what was formerly known as Lafayette Village coming back to life.

“Prior to this location, I was located in Vernon,” she said. “I moved to Sussex County (Branchville) five years ago and was hoping that the Village would come back to life. In an age of social media, I love the feel of the Shoppes and the sense of a small community.”

The whole concept of Rainbow Reflections by Rita is a little eclectic and comprised of Chimento's favorite things.

“I carry a whole array of inspirational and metaphysical gifts: gemstones/crystals, tarot/oracle cards, candles, jewelry, figurines, pottery, salt lamps, windchimes, and more,” she said. “The store is also unique because the retail section is only a part of the business. I offer readings, reiki, metaphysical counseling, and classes too.”

Chimento feels that gemstones and crystals are beautiful and each one unique.

“Some people may just resonate with the beauty of the stone and feel good wearing them while others may work with them for the meaning of the stone be it for higher vibration, health, protection, etc,” she said. “The beauty truly lies within the uniqueness of each gemstone along with the uniqueness of how they inspire people differently.”

Rainbow Reflections by Rita came to fruition after Chimento learned Reiki in 2010.

“Knowing I wanted to open a shop one day, I played with different names that contained 3 R’s because we were three girls in my family and each of our names began with the letter “R,” she said. “I am also very big in the color of our energy (chakras, which are the colors of the rainbow) and the belief in that what we put out to the world each day gets reflected back to us.”

Chimento had a soft opening at her new location in The Shoppes at Lafayette on July 20, but Rainbow Reflections by Rita will hold its grand opening on Sept. 7.

“I love my new location and truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of this community,” she said.
