Velma Sparta

Velma (“Juby”) Sparta (nee Decker) passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 26, 2021. She was 101.

Born in Vernon Township, N.J., she has been a lifelong resident of Vernon.

Juby worked for Ames Rubber Corporation in Hamburg, N.J., from 1958-1981 as a trimmer. She enjoyed her large family, gardening and cooking. She was a bird lover especially cardinals and owls.

Juby is predeceased by her husband, Frank V. Sparta Sr. (1997); brothers, Cornel, Fred, and Harold Decker; and sisters, Martha Van Syckle and Carrie Nagy.

Juby is the devoted mother of Frank V. Sparta Jr. and his wife, Donna, Gary Sparta and his wife, Barbara, and Dale Sparta and his wife, Sandra, all of Vernon Township, N.J.; loving grandmother of Debra Goddard and her husband, Russell, Gregory Sparta and his wife, Elizabeth, Mark Sparta and his wife, Colleen, Bradley Sparta and his wife, Robyn, Darryl Sparta and his wife, Andrea, and Kelly Sparta; cherished great-grandmother of Breanne, Sarah, Zachary, Alexandra, Kyle, Connor Cameron, Haley, Sidney, Ethan, Tyler and Ashlynn, all Sparta, and Brayden and Addyson Snyder, Russell and Martha Goddard. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, Franklin, N.J., on May 1, 2021. Interment followed at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Township, N.J.
