James Albert (‘Tex’) Werner

James Albert (“Tex”) Werner died on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Hackettstown Hospital in Hackettstown. He was 79.

Born in Newton, N.J., to the late Norman and Tess Werner, he was a lifelong resident of Stanhope, N.J.

Mr. Werner was a lineman and worked at Bell Atlantic for 30 years prior to retiring. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Life Member of the VFW having served as Past Commander of Netcong Post 2347, he was the Past District Commander of District 10, and DAV Commander, Chapter 78. Mr. Werner was a Life Member of the NRA, past member of the Tri-County Motorcycle Club, member of the American Legion of Mine Hill and the AmVets of Nutley, N.J. He also served several years as a special police officer in Stanhope.

He was predeceased by his daughter Catherine Werner,; brother Michael Werner; and sister Marge Croft.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Valerie Ninivaggi, daughters, Toni Campbell and Michelle Brown and their mother, Lucille Werner; three grandchildren; sisters, Theresa D’Olivo and Janice Deacon; and brother, Stanley Werner.

Visiting was held Dec. 11 at Morgan Funeral Home, Netcong, N.J., followed by a prayer service. A graveside service was held Dec. 12 at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope.
