Heinz Henry Hentschel

Heinz Henry Hentschel of Stockholm, N.J., passed away at Newton Medical Center on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was 78.

Born in Germany to Johann and Maria Hentschel, he came to the U.S. in 1956, settling in the Bronx, NY. He then lived in Passaic, N.J., before moving to Stockholm in 1965.

Heinz worked as a mechanical engineer for Drakes Bakery in Wayne, N.J., for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed travelling to Florida, fishing, and tinkering and creating things for their usefulness. He was best remembered as always helping others when he could.

Heinz is predeceased by brothers, Guinter and Herbert; and sisters, Helena, Hildy, and Heidi.

He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Maria Hentschel (nee Geng) of Stockholm; devoted father of Anna Barry and her husband, Christopher of Millington, N.J., Heinz Hentschel of Belleville, Mich., and Kathleen Hentschel and her husband, Thomas Watts, of Sparrowbush, N.Y.; loving grandfather of Erin and Christopher; dear brother of Gertrude Reiman of Germany.

Private cremation services are under the direction of F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, Franklin, N.J. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity or local food pantry.
