Irene M. Dickerson of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., died Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at home surrounded by her children. She was 89.

Daughter of the late Charles Nathan and Laura May (Hendershot) Sipley, she was born in Andover Township, N.J., on March 13, 1932. Irene was a longtime resident of Sussex County, N.J., before moving to Pike County, Pa., in 2004. She was a homemaker and spent most of her life raising children. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Irene was a former member of the Red Hat Society and a former member of the Andover Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Darrel Dickerson, on Sept. 26, 2008; two daughters, Sharon and Diane Dickerson; four sisters, Fannie Luchetti, Patricia Sliker, Audrey, and Shirley Sipley; and three brothers, Charles (Bubby), Earl, and Gerald Sipley.

She is survived by four daughters, Betty Cummins and husband, Barrett, of Newton, N.J., Cathy McClain of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Cindy Falotico and husband, Joseph, of Stillwater Township, N.J., Laura Hanley and husband, Martin, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; two sons, Darrel Dickerson and wife, Debbie, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Edward Dickerson of Branchville, N.J. She is also survived by three brothers, Robert Sipley and wife, Betty, of Andover Township, N.J., Vincent Sipley and wife, Donna, of Belvedere, N.J., and Richard Sipley of Newton, N.J.; her sister Nellie Kinney and husband, Glen, of Andover Township, N.J.; sister-in-law, Muriel Erickson of Tampa, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, at Frankford Plains Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton.
