2 arrested in major drug investigation

NORTH HALEDON. Search warrants for 10 locations in Passaic, Bergen and Sussex counties were executed, and $107,089, guns and suspected drugs were seized.

Two North Haledon residents were arrested after a long-term multi-agency narcotics investigation, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff said Wednesday, March 27.

The investigation was by Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics, Gangs and Violent Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the Wayne Police Department.

Demoy Woolley, 23, and Qa’Lasia Williams, 25, were charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, first-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

During the investigation from November through March, federal, state, county and local agencies assisted the Prosecutor’s Office and Wayne Police Department. They included the Haledon and Clifton police departments, Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, U.S. Secret Service, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Search warrants for 10 locations in Passaic, Bergen and Sussex counties were executed Monday, March 25, resulting in the arrests of Woolley, Williams and others. Both Woolley and Williams were detained.

Law enforcement agencies also seized $107,089 in U.S. currency, a Taurus 9mm handgun with high-capacity magazine, 56 rounds of ammunition, 12,100 glassines of suspected heroin/fentanyl, one ounce of raw suspected heroin/fentanyl, 9.5 ounces of suspected cocaine/crack cocaine, eight pounds of suspected marijuana and several large bottles of Promethazine.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
