Christmas will be a bit different because of gathering restrictions during Covid. This year, the annual tree lighting will be live-streamed on the Vernon Township Facebook page on Friday, Dec. 11, at 7 pm.

Santa will be making a livestreamed appearance.

To celebrate the season and share some cheer, the Vernon PAL and Vernon Township will be hosting an outdoor tree-decorating competition throughout the town. Participants can decorate any type of outdoor tree and submit a picture to the PAL Facebook page by Dec. 9. Any type of outdoor tree qualifies. Creativity reigns!

Contest participants need to email the decorated tree photo along with their name and address to info@vernonpal.com for judging purposes only.

All contestants are invited to light their trees in conjunction with the Dec. 11 livestream, and so lend illuminated brilliance to Vernon Township.

Winners will be announced at the livestreamed tree lighting, and prizes will be mailed to the winners.
