Vernon Cub Scout Pack 404 recently held a food drive in front of the township A&P. The food drive was held on Sept. 21 and was a success as scouts collected more than eight overflowing shopping carts of donations for the Vernon United Methodist Church.

Vernon residents also donated more than $500 to the food pantry. In honor of Sept. 11, the boys collected donations and went shopping for their own supplies to give to Operation Shoebox, ann annual event where supplies are sent to military men and women.

These scouts were awarded with the Messengers of Peace Award for their outstanding efforts with community service. The Messengers of Peace Award was launched in Sept. 2011 and is a global initiative designed to inspireyoung men and women to work toward doing good for others.
