Central Valley Update on the construction of new sports fields at Monroe-Woodbury School District

Photographer William Dimmit spent a hot July afternoon photographing how work was proceeding on the new Crusader athletic fields.
Last October, voters within the Monroe-Woodbury School District approved the $8.4 million capital project. The project is being paid with $4.4 million in capital reserve funds and $4 million in serial bonds (borrowing). School officials have said there will be zero tax impact.
The replacements and upgrades include:
Replace grass athletic field #3 with multi-purpose artificial turf field. Striped and sized as a multi-purpose soccer, football and lacrosse field.
Full regulation size for football and lacrosse and nearly maximum regulation size for soccer.
New energy efficient lights.
Remove excessive crown from middle of the field.
Track replacement: Replace aging and deteriorating six lane track with new regulation eight lane track. This will include steeplechase and additional jumping event facilities.
Replace grass athletic field with lighted multi-purpose artificial turf field, striped and sized for soccer, baseball, lacrosse and softball with maximum regulation size for soccer.
Relocate and upgrade varsity softball field.
The project is expected to be finished by the time school opens in the fall.
The work also includes replacing the outdated air conditioning system in Monroe-Woodbury High School.
