Jefferson posts win over Newton

Newton. Jefferson's Luke Foth earned the win to give the Falcons a 5-2 win over the Newton Braves

  • Newton first baseman Derek Campbell's tag on Jefferson runner Mike Novak is too late during a pick-off attempt in the second inning. Novak doubled and singled and drove in two runs and scored a run.




  • Jefferson pitcher Luke Foth is in motion on the mound. Foth earned the win on the mound going 5 and 1/3 innings allowing just two runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts.




  • Newton batter Peyton Nolan hits the ball in the fourth inning. Nolan had three at bats (AB) connecting for one hit and scored one run.




  • Jefferson batter Dylan Bald connects with the ball in the second inning. Bald had three at bats (AB) resulting in one hit and one (RBI). He is also credited with one stolen base (SB).




  • Newton batter Jack Young connects with the ball in the third inning. Young had four at bats (AB) and connected for one hit.




  • Newton pitcher Jimmy McKeown pitched for seven innings and took the loss.




  • Jefferson batter Tyler Ruban swings towards the ball in the first inning. Ruban accomplished one hit, a base on balls (BB) and scored two runs. He also stole one base.




Jefferson Township High School defeated Newton High School, 5-2 in varsity baseball on Saturday May 11, at Memory Park.

Pitcher Luke Foth earned the win on the mound going 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts for Jefferson (12-11). Reliever Johnny Knox finished the game throwing 1 2/3 innings resulting in two hits and three strikeouts. Mike Novak doubled and singled and drove in two runs and scored a run. Tyler Ruban scored two runs, Jason Taylor scored one run and Austin Jack scored one run.

Dylan Testa went 2-for-2 and scored a run. Derek Campbell singled and drove in two runs for Newton (7-11) and Peyton Nolan scored a run.
