Pope John advances in HWS tourney

    Pope John XXIII Regional High School defeated North Hunterdone in varsity baseball on Saturday, April 27. The final score was 10-1.
    The Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament Quarterfinal took place at Pope John XXIII Regional High School.
    For seven innings pitcher Jake Wells contributed 91 total pitches on the mound for Pope John.
    Pitcher Mike Pierce contributed 95 total pitches on the mound for North Hunterdon. Relief pitcher Justin Holderbaum contributed 47 pitches. Holderbaum pitched for 1.2 innings.
    Michael Schumacher scored the only run for North Hunterdon.
    Team records: North Hunterdon Lions 6-8, Pope John Lions 12-2.
    Pope John will play the winner of Voorhees vs. Hunterdon Central in the semifinals on May 4.
