She has also created a body of 80 original paintings in New Jersey painting the wildlife of the state for the NJ Wildlife Series published in New Jersey Outdoors magazine and a book featuring these images.
Decker has also had the honor to be chosen to paint two ornaments for the Christmas tree in the White House and attended the Artist’s Reception. In addition, the she has strayed from her usual subjects of nature and wildlife at times to paint historical icons of Sussex County, such as, Kuser Mansion, Winding Brook Farm, and Lusscroft Farm to bring attention to the needs of these iconic buildings.
She has many time utilized her gift of art to help a cause or donate to many non-profits, giving greater meaning to being an artist. This self-taught artist has been a painter since age twelve and has continued on this lifetime journey to this day. Her work has recently been show cased in the 2015 NJ State Fair/Sussex County Farm & Horse Show as the “Featured Artist”.
“I see paintings everywhere, margins, boundaries, edges and frames, light, shadow, the touch of a feather, a leaf or a reflection in a pool or stream," Decker said. "I see the glory of nature and its wildlife every day, a gift to me and I strive to reproduce it as my gift to you.” The Walpack Inn cordially invites you to come and “Dine with the Deer”, enjoy the Sussex County countryside, as well as the beautiful realistic and finely detailed wildlife art of Carol Decker.
