Peters Valley to host annual open house

Peters Valley will host its annual open h ouse and studio tours on Sunday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The historic campus is nestled amid the beauty of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, one mile from the Dingmans Ferry Bridge, in Layton, NJ. Demonstrators will be working in our blacksmithing, ceramics, fibers, weaving, fine metals/jewelry, woodworking and special topics/glass and printmaking studios.
Craft exhibitors and other demonstrating artists will be located in “Valley Central” displaying and selling their work. Visitors can hop on a bus to easily explore the studios across the 3,400 acre campus and walk the grounds to experience the serene natural landscape. There will be hands-on activities for adults and kids.
This lively event gives visitors the opportunity to watch artists forge metal, weave cloth, turn wood, turn and carve wood, create jewelry, and more. Staff will be available to answer questions and take registrations for youth and adult workshops.
In addition to the Peters Valley Gallery’s first floor, which showcases the work of over 200 American artists, the second floor Sally D. Francisco Gallery (named after the founding director) is currently showing the exhibition Nuance: Craftsmanship, Imagination, and Innovation. Among other community groups set up at the event, the Walpack Historical Society will have a display showcasing the area’s rich history, including the former hamlet of Bevans, where Peters Valley resides today.
There will be great food and live music throughout the day. Bus groups are welcome and can be arranged by contacting the office.
