Throughout five weeks in August and September 2018, RoNetco ShopRite stores participated in the Annual ShopRite Partners in Caring Program.
The mission of ShopRite Partners in Caring is to provide funds to hunger-fighting charities while creating awareness and engaging the community in the fight against hunger. As a result of their outstanding efforts in fundraising events and overall commitment to the initiative, associates from six RoNetco ShopRite stores are currently featured on a just-released, special-edition Cheerios box. The top 50 ShopRite stores in the northeast are featured on this Cheerios box, with the theme of 20 Years of Good, since the program’s inception was in 1998.
RoNetco ShopRite stores pride themselves in regularly earning a spot on the Cheerios box as a result of the hard work and dedication of their associates, and the generosity of the customers in the communities they serve. Special “unveiling” ceremonies took place this March to honor these team members.
“These accomplishments do not happen without a lot of work behind the scenes. Our partnership with General Mills, the support of Wakefern, and the leadership of Cathie Miller all provide the platform for our terrific associates to come together to raise awareness about the issue of hunger."
On top of the ShopRite stores’ contributions, RoNetco Supermarkets, Inc. donated another $25,000 to the NORWESCAP Food Bank at the unveiling events and 6 pallets of canned goods and cereal. The food bank distributes over 2,000,000 pounds of food annually to pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, on-site feeding programs, childcare centers, senior centers, and programs for the disabled in Hunterdon, Sussex & Warren counties.
“I am blown away by the commitment of Wakefern and ShopRite to the nonprofit community and the people that we serve. It’s not just about writing a check or something that’s nice to do. Philanthropy is built into the business model of these organizations. That kind of commitment is rare and remarkable because it really does impact the people who are at a challenging point in their lives,” said Mark Valli, CEO of the NORWESCAP Food Bank.
