| 28 Mar 2019 | 01:58

Today’s job market demands basic computer literacy. Your local library is here to help. Essential computer skills classes will be held at the Franklin Branch Library, 103 Main Street in Franklin, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 3-May 15.
Each class focuses on a different aspect of computer literacy as it relates to finding and attaining employment. Participants need not attend all six sessions and can choose the classes that best fit their needs. Library laptops will be available for use on a first-come, first-served basis and participants needing a laptop are encouraged to register in advance by calling Career Connections Associate Julie Knapp at 973 948-3660 ext. 3409.
April 10 – The Internet and Email is an overview of search engines, setting up and accessing email, and basic browsing and email security.
April 17 – Intro to Microsoft Word is an overview of all the Microsoft Office programs with a focus on using Word to create, edit and save documents.
May 1 – Creating a Resume in Microsoft Word is a hands-on resume building class. Participants will leave with a basic, working resume that can be tailored to different job opportunities.
May 8 – Online Job Search introduces employment search engines and job boards, as well as ways to use social media in your job search, and how to avoid common scams.
May 15 – Online Job Applications prepares you to have all the necessary paperwork on hand for completing online job applications, plus useful tips for answering commonly asked assessment questions.
These free classes are made possible by a Career Connections Grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. In addition to Essential Computer Skills, the Sussex County Library System also hosts classes on using LinkedIn, networking, mock interview practice and much more. Details, dates and times are available through the Event Calendar link at sussexcountylibrary.org.
