Antler Ridge plans baby shower

FRELINGHUYSEN — When people think of spring, they often think of baby animals: foals in the fields with their mothers, baby birds in their nests, baby bunnies hopping on the lawn. At Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Frelinghuysen Township it means time to get to work. Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary (ARWS) is a wildlife rehabilitation center that provides care to orphaned or injured wildlife.
ARWS is licensed by the state of New Jersey to care for fawns, raccoon, skunks, opossums, squirrels, rabbits, woodchucks and other small mammals. The Sanctuary is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Warren County on a 120 acre reserved farm and is entirely supported by public donations.
Orphaned animals are raised by trained volunteers to be returned to the wild when they are capable of caring for themselves. Last season, 996 animals were cared for, including three bears, four foxes, and a porcupine.
In order to help stock the shelves and acquire necessary equipment, an annual Baby Shower Brunch will be held at the Tranquility Methodist Church Community House on Sunday, April 7 from 1-4 pm. The public is invited to come and enjoy delicious food while learning about the mission and work of the Sanctuary. Unique products, such as homemade honey from Antler Ridge’s bees, jewelry from the quills of the sanctuary’s African Porcupine, and other unique crafts will be offered for sale.
Tickets are $25 in advance, to cover the cost of the brunch. They may be purchased on the Antler Ridge Website: www.antler-ridge.com. Also, on the website is a list of baby shower gift suggestions containing many of the items necessary to run the sanctuary and meet the individual needs of the various species cared for.
