SPARTA — Thomas N. Ryan, an attorney and Managing Partner of Laddey, Clark & Ryan, based in Sparta, will be honored by the SCARC Foundation on March 21 at its Honors Awards Gala Dinner at Perona Farms.
SCARC is a nonprofit organization committed to working with individuals with developmental disabilities, offering support for them and their families. Mr. Ryan is being honored because he recognizes and supports the extraordinary work that SCARC, Inc. and SCARC Guardianship Services perform on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities. “Tom has been a great help to SCARC with his legal advice and opinions, as well as his encouraging support to our organization,” says Richard C. Lecher, Ph.D., SCARC President and Chief Executive Officer. “Tom has been a vital part of our support team for many years, and we have always cherished his wisdom regarding our legal needs.”
Mr. Ryan is an employment and commercial litigator, business and government services lawyer who focuses on representing management and individuals in both the private and public sectors. He has litigated cases in both the New Jersey State Superior Courts and in the Federal District Courts. He has long been — and continues to be — a leader in the legal community and the business community, as well as in community service.
Mr. Ryan was one of the founders of Laddey Clark & Ryan in 1989 and, along with his law partner, Andrew Fraser, has grown the firm into a leading law practice in Northwest New Jersey. He serves as Municipal Attorney for Sparta Township, General Counsel for the Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative (the only such cooperative in New Jersey), outside General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Atlas Refinery, Inc. and Outside Litigation Counsel to Weichert Co.
He has also been a leader in the legal community in many ways. He is a Past President of the Sussex County Bar Association and continues to be an active member. He also is a Master Emeritus of the Sydney Reitman Employment Law Inn of Court. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Morris County Bar Association.
Ryan continues to play a leading role in the Sussex County business community. He serves on the Board of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Mr. Ryan serves as a Trustee and Secretary on the Board of Trustees of Newton Medical Center Foundation and as a Trustee and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of The 200 Club of Sussex County.
