Center plans 'Recovery Talk'

    The Center for Prevention and Counseling’s Recovery Community Center at 65 Newton-Sparta Road, Newton, will feature “Recovery Talk” on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 9-11 a.m. The focus of this informative event is how to best support pregnant women with substance use disorder. Speakers will present on prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care including recovery support services with a review of collaborative supporting agencies in Sussex County.
    A special segment featuring stories from young mothers in recovery, with lived experience, will highlight the morning. Also included will be information on the growth of specific services and wrap-around supports that are enhancing positive outcomes for this unique population. The Center welcomes the public, lay and professional, to learn about the obstacles and opportunities that present themselves in the lives of pregnant women seeking and sustaining recovery from substance use disorder. Light refreshments and breakfast fare will be provided by Garden State Treatment, Sparta.
    The Center for Prevention and Counseling has been enhancing the climate of addiction recovery supports in Sussex County through recovery-focused educational events, new formats of addiction recovery meetings, an increased understanding of a new recovery advocacy movement and the creation of the Recovery Community Center at 65 Newton-Sparta Road.
