Salvatore V. Gammaro

Salvatore “Sal” Gammaro, 72, of Ogdensburg, passed away on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2018. Sal worked at Crum and Foster, Home Depot and Somerset Sales before his retirement in 2010. During that time Sal was an avid home remodeler. He was also a Navy Seabee who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Sal is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Rose Marie (nee Tuosto), his son Salvatore Jr. and his wife Irita, and his daughter Lori Anne Winters and her husband Michael. Sal is also survived by his sister Marie Salmonson from Poland, Maine, his sisters Mary Curry (David) of Florida and Sally of NJ, brother in law Michael and his wife Gerry, sister in law Annette Averna (Tom), and his loving grandchildren Seth, Eva, and Lyris. He also leaves behind his niece Cheryl, nephews Richard and Gary Salmonson, Michael and Robert Tuosto. Sal was blessed with a large extended family and friends and his beloved dog Leah. Visitation was held on Sunday Dec. 9, 2018, at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta NJ from 3–7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas of Aquin Church, 53 Kennedy Ave, Ogdensburg, NJ on Monday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sal’s name can be made to the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery 75 N Church Rd, Sparta Township, NJ 07871 or Connect for the Community 246 Woodport Rd., Sparta Township, NJ 07871.
