Franklin school intruder, 6,131 views
Alex J. Theobold, 20, of Ogdensburg was arrested after police said he entered the Franklin Borough school without authorization on Nov. 19. Police responded to the school at 3:10 p.m. and school officials revealed the unidentified male entered the building at about 2:30 p.m. The pending investigation revealed that students leaving the building via a side door had incidentally let a male inside the school building. The male walked amongst the students and faculty for approximately 30 minutes before being noticed and left prior to police arrival. No one was hurt and no explosives were found.

Police: Bomb threat may have been a diversion, 1,960 views
Franklin Borough police said a bomb threat called in on Saturday, Jan. 13, may have been a diversion to distract police from another crime being committed. Police said an employee from Dunkin Donuts said that at approximately 12:30 a.m., a silver Volkswagen four-door sedan with a sun roof driven by a white male arrived and the male driver requested to use the store's landline phone. The employee further related that he instructed the individual to park his vehicle and come inside the store to use the phone.

Sugar Sweet Farms opens petting zoo, 1,818 views
The Sugar Sweet Farms Petting Zoo is open every weekend for business on Route 94 in Lafayette. Owner Dennis Sugar explained his involvement with animals started as a backyard hobby in 2010. He added, he enjoys the animals, and he really enjoys seeing the kids.

Franklin police seeking bank suspect, 1,524 views
Franklin police said an unidentified male falsely identified himself as the owner of a safety deposit box at Sussex Bank in Franklin in May. The unidentified male's key for the safety deposit box did not work. According to bank employee's the male had a safety deposit key envelope from Sussex Bank and had the box number of 153 written on it consistent with the customer's safety deposit box number. After being unable to gain entry, he left the bank. William Poltersdorf, 29, of Ogdensburg surrendered to police a few days later and was charged with forgery and criminal attempt of theft by deception.

Shoppes at Lafayette give 'village' new life, 1,392 views
Lafayette Village Associates, LLC, recently took over ownership of what was, for years, Olde Lafayette Village. The owners have commercial and industrial property in Sparta, Piscataway, South Brunswick, Manahawkin, Jersey City and Holmdel. New stores are moving back into the complex.

Explosion demolishes Hardyston home; blast heard and felt miles away, 956 views
A massive explosion demolished a home on Grumm Road in Hardyston on Nov. 27 night, with witnesses on social media claiming to have heard and felt the blast from as far as 30 miles away. According to the Hardyston police, the explosion happened at 11:05 p.m. at 33 Grumm Road.

Vernon man killed in motorcycle crash, 881 views
An assistant supervisor for the Vernon Township Dept. of Public Works was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday night in Hardyston Township. Police said Tony Alexander, 48, was traveling south on Route 94 on a 2006 Big Dog Motorcycle when a collision occurred with a 2007 Lexus operated by Efrain Gines, 25, of Hardyston.

Neighborhood House coming to Franklin, 727 views
Franklin Mayor Nick Giordano said the new Neighborhood House building would be comprised of "a gymnasium, the church building section which could be a heritage museum, and rooms on Junction Street that could be meeting rooms, or possible a Police Department satellite space.” He also thought that the building might serve nicely as "a place for senior lunches as this could generate more people and business to Main Street.”

Lakeland Bank workers save customer's life, 564 views
Two employees at the Lakeland Bank branch in Franklin acted quickly when a customer suffered a heart attack in the bank in early February. Catherine DiSalvo and Adnan Shoukat both worked quickly and used the onsite defibrillator to save the customer's life.
