FBLA hosts Super Night for March of Dimes

HAMBURG — The Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) hosted Super Night 2018 for the benefit of the March of Dimes on Nov. 16, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning in the high school gymnasium.
Two hundred twenty-four students participated. Activities during this ten-hour lock-in included a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, volleyball tournament, handball tournament, movie night, a game room, and dancing.
Trophies and medals were awarded for each tournament. The first-place winners in each tournament were: Basketball – (Tune Squad) Mason White, Shawn Falk, and Reyes Madera; Handball – (Triple Gold) Dylan Babler, Shawn Falk, Reyes Madeira, Mason White, Tim Dean, and Shane Geene; and Volleyball – (Fireproof) Garett Koch, Jonathan Sienkiewicz, Jake Lonsky, Justin Rivera, Driton Zaku, Elijah Bascom, and Ben Mizeski.
In order to participate in the event, students were required to raise a minimum of $50 for the March of Dimes; prizes were awarded to the top fundraising students: 1st place – Romeo Cuevas; 2nd place – Garett Koch; and 3rd place – Ryan Nugent. Wallkill Valley FBLA’s Community Service Vice Presidents Riley Cunniffe and Hannah Sekelsky planned the event, organized activities, and securing food and drinks from the local community. They were assisted by the Super Night Committee. The theme this year was “Lights, Camera, Action.”
A school assembly was held on Nov. 7, which outlined the details of the event.
Bill and Lisa Gordon outlined the impact the March of Dimes had with the premature birth of their son Dylan. JoAnn Bartoli, the March of Dimes Senior Community Director of the North Jersey Division, also attended.
The Wallkill Valley FBLA chapter members are committed to the mission of the March of Dimes and are thrilled with their March of Dimes 2018 donation of $15,710.
