The Ogdensburg Board of Education received the election results on Dec. 4 for the two open spots needed to be filled on the school board.

The results were announced and there will be two returning members. Sue Dolan and Brandon Deonegan will serve 3-year terms.

Deirdre Cooke, Special Education Teacher, showed the Board of Education the new Ogdensburg bulletin which consists of 19 pages. Cooke explained this bulletin is the longest one yet. This bulletin consists of part one, part two and this year a part three was added. Cooke explained last time they did the history of the Sterling Hill Mine Museum. Part three in the bulletin explains the history of Ogdensburg and information about the event the “Ogdensburg Haunted Mine Tour”.

Cooke told the Board of Education “I just want you to know how hard the students worked. They are only with me three days a week. From the moment they step in the door until the moment they leave they are working on this.”

The flyers also have a digital team that helps make the bulletins a success.

Cooke explained one goal is to make sure the bulletins are seen in as many places as it can be. Superintendent/Principal David Astor informed the Board of Education and attendees that some of the bulletins were put in the Dunkin Donuts and the post office.

The Board of Education announced that the pre-school-free tuition program has reached its capacity for the new school year beginning in January 2019. Most of the pre-school students are from Ogdensburg and a few pre-school students are from out of town.
