Santa Koz is coming to town

| 13 Nov 2018 | 12:15

Multi-Grammy nominee and saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz returns to Mayo Performing Arts Center for a spirited holiday celebration on Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $49-$89.
Special Guests joining Dave this year will be saxophonist Mindi Abair, guitarist Jonathan Butler, keyboard sensation Keiko Matsui and vocalist Sheléa.
The tour, now in its 21st year, has received nationwide critical acclaim since its 1997 inception. After last year's highly successful 20-year anniversary Christmas Tour, Koz's 2018 Christmas Tour promises to bring fresh renditions of Christmas classics-as well as a Chanukah medley!-and hits from his respective catalog. Koz has logged nine No. 1 albums on Billboard's Current Contemporary Jazz Album chart, including 2015's Collaborations: 25th Anniversary Collection (Concord Records), and received nine GRAMMY nominations.
Mindi Abair, two-time Grammy nominee and one of the most sought-after saxophonists, has been electrifying audiences with her dynamic live performances and sax prowess since 2000. She has garnered ten #1 radio hits, six Top 5 solo records and two #1 spots on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz album chart. Abair also spent two seasons as the featured saxophonist on American Idol. When not touring or recording with other musicians, Abair features her vocals in her own group, Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers.
South African guitarist Jonathan Butler's genre-busting material earned songwriter's awards and received abundant airplay in multiple radio formats. He has received Grammy nominations for Best R&B Song for his R&B-pop vocal hit "Lies" and for Best Jazz Song for the instrumental "Going Home." In concert, Butler remains a captivating and powerful performer, pouring his heart into selections from his immense catalogue.
Keiko Matsui is an internationally acclaimed pianist, composer and humanitarian. She made her U.S. recording debut in 1987 and, since then, she has topped Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts and been named "Best Female Artist" by the National Smooth Jazz Awards multiple times. Matsui has come to be loved for her breathtakingly beautiful, transcendent melodies that transport the listener. Her most recent album, 2016's Journey To The Heart, marked the 30th Anniversary since her recording debut and reaffirmed her place as one of the most dynamic and important voices in instrumental music.
Vocalist Sheléa's name is buzzing around elite Hollywood circles. Notably, she performed as a background vocalist for Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key of Life" Tour 2014-2015 where she blew the audience away night after night with her solo performances of Whitney Houston favorites. Sheléa also works as a songwriter, pianist, arranger and producer. Her versatility has led her to soundtrack projects including Hotel Rwanda, Akeelah and the Bee and Be Cool. Although Sheléa will be making her debut with the Dave Koz & Friends Christmas Tour, it will not be her first time in Morristown. Sheléa was previously introduced to Mayo Performing Arts Center audiences in April while on tour with David Foster.
