Elizabethtown Gas remains on schedule

OGDENSBURG — Mayor Rachel Slater confirmed, at the last Ogdensburg Council meeting, Elizabethtown Gas is still on schedule to finish providing natural gas to Ogdensburg by the end of November.
Slater also reported, Councilman Michael Nardini said, DPW Supervisor Chris Ross is working with a contractor to fix the broken hydrants, which they will evaluate to fix whatever is possible; and Water System Operator Rob Lawler bought and will install well heaters, along with an electrician, who will fix any inoperable electric switches or wiring. In addition she said, Sparta Dispatch will complete a new contract for a shared service, possibly before the next meeting.
She also said, JCP&L will try to put LED lights on the baseball field poles with big brown boxes. However, she continued, they will not be able to put LED lights in the firehouse parking lot, because a pole and line are no longer available. Thus, she said, the DPW will need to put lights on the building.
Councilman George Hutnick discussed the possibility of a shared service Chief Financial Officer (CFO) agreement with Sussex, so that Ogdensburg and Sussex could hire a full-time chief financial offficer and share days during the week. Former CFO Monica Goscicki is leaving Ogdensburg to work full-time for Mountain Lakes.
Councilman David Astor said they will split the CFO cost, plus benefits, with Sussex.
Councilman Anthony Nasisi reported: the hot water heater and steam boiler's company went through a licensing change, and work in Borough Hall and the historical building is on hold until the Department of Consumer Affairs completes the transfer; a contractor will give another borough hall roof estimate within the next two weeks; and the septic abandonment project on Wausau St. will have to wait for the possibility of extra money in November.
Slater recommended putting the project on hold until next year's budget.
