Play for Pink: High Point Regional High School defeats Pope John XXIII Regional

High Point defeated Pope John XXIII Regional in varsity field hockey on Tuesday Oct. 30, 2018. The final score was 3-0. The annual Play for Pink game took place at High Point Regional High School in Wantage Township. It was the last game of the season for both teams.
The High Point Wildcats was the home team and wore hot pink while the visiting Pope John Lions donned white and pink during the game.
Tyra Wingle scored two goals for High Point. Michaela Thiessen scored one goal.
Team records: High Point Wildcats 6-8-1. Pope John Lions 5-10.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The charity game “Play for Pink” was the result of High Point coaches wanting to create awareness at the high school and raise money to help cancer patients and future research. The charity game will do both with all proceeds from the game going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge), a non-profit group started in 1990 by a group of women who were saddened when a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer.
