Jefferson Rec plans train open house

OAK RIDGE — There will be an open house of holiday trains as the Jefferson Township Recreation Department welcomes the BD&W Club of Jefferson, the High Point “N” Track Club, and the Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society to Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The BD&W Club will be running their HO scale trains in their Train Cabin, the High Point “N” Track Club will be located in the Recreation Hall running their “N” scale modular trains, and The Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society will be running their G-scale trains in the Community Lodge. On display will be large and small trains, smoking locomotives with lots of sounds — old and new generations.
Bring the whole family, invite friends and children of all ages for pre-holiday fun. As this event will be held indoors in three buildings at Camp Jefferson, the event is rain or shine. Free parking, free shuttle service for overflow parking from the Ellen T. Briggs School parking lot at 1 Jefferson Drive (off Espanong Road) and the Board of Education parking lot at 31 Route 181. Admission is free but free will donations are welcome.
