    Oct 5Rachel Pier, 39 of Sussex, was sentenced to three years of probation with credit for six days of time served.
    She was ordered to complete a defensive driving course, 100 hours of community service work and 48 hours of IDRC, attend AA/NA meetings at least once per week, submit to a TASC evaluation, if required, provide a DNA sample and pay $1,094 in fines and fees.
    Her driver’s license was ordered suspended for two years, and she must utilize an ignition interlock device for one year.
    She pleaded guilty on Aug, 20, 2018, to Assault by Auto, a fourth-degree crime, and Driving While Intoxicated (second offense), a motor vehicle offense.
    On Oct. 20, 2017, the defendant caused a motor vehicle accident in Vernon Township and injured an individual because she drove a vehicle recklessly while intoxicated (second offense).
    Frank Carman, age 38, of West Milford, was sentenced to five (5) years state prison for endangering the welfare of a child on May 17, 2017, in the Borough of Sussex. Carman received 421 days jail credit and was ordered to pay all mandatory fines and fees.
    In addition, the Defendant was sentenced to five (5) years State Prison for two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in August of 2017 in the Township of Wantage. This sentence was ordered to run concurrent to the Endangering the Welfare of a Child sentence. Carman received 413 days jail credit and was ordered to pay all mandatory fines and fees as well as $245.00 restitution.
    He pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2018, to Endangering the Welfare of a Child (a third-degree crime) and two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (third-degree crimes). These cases were investigated by the New Jersey State Police and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
    Oct. 10 Andres Chavarria, 43, of Newton pleaded guilty to two counts of driving with a suspended license, a fourth-degree crime, and driving under the influence a third-offense, a motor vehicle offense.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
    On April 7, 2018, and April 28, 2018, Chavarria was stopped by Andover Township Police officers for motor vehicle violations. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to driving on both dates while his driver license was suspended for a third offense of Driving While Intoxicated and to driving on April 7, 2018, while under the influence of alcohol.
    The cases were investigated by Patrolman Michael Haggerty and Patrolman Alex Price of the Andover Township Police Department.
