The Ogdensburg Board of Education meeting was held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018.
The Board of Education members discussed the upcoming Halloween event at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. The "Haunted Halloween Mine Tour" was such a success last year that the Haunted Halloween Mine Tour will be hosting it again this year.
Last year, the Mine donated $13,000 to the Ogdensburg eighth grade class of 2018 for their trip to Boston. This year the proceeds from the Haunted Halloween Mine Tour event will benefit the 8'h grade class of 2019 for their trip to Boston.
The "Haunted Halloween Mine Tour" is run by the staff of the Sterling Hill Mine. Volunteers will include the parents, students and the residents of Ogdensburg.
The Haunted Mine tour dates will be held two weekends in a row. The first weekend is Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20. There are two times each night. The earlier time is 6:00 to 6.50 p.m. This time is for those that don't want to be too spooked. The second tour is available between 7 p.m. and the time of the event ends at 9:50 p.m. The second tour is for those who love to be spooked. The Haunted Mine Tour will run the following weekend on Oct. 26, and Oct. 27, at the same times.
There will be a lot of fun activities, food, and games for kids of all ages. The cost for children under five with their parent is free. Six years old to twelve years costs $6.00 and need to have a parent with them, but an older sibling can accompany them into the mine. Visitors 13 years and up are $10.
