SPARTA — Thomas H. Prol, a partner at Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP, has been selected by the Sussex County Bar Association and the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law as a recipient of a 2018 Professional Lawyer of the Year Award.
Professionalism Awards are presented annually to lawyers selected by bar associations across New Jersey who, by virtue of their exemplary conduct, competence, diligence and demeanor, set a positive example for others.
“It signifies that you are someone we can all point to with pride as a true and esteemed professional. I applaud your selection as it reflects positively on you and on the lawyers of New Jersey,” said Paula A. Franzese, Eq., Peter W. Rodino Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law, Chair of the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism.
The award will be presented to Mr. Prol and others at the Commission’s Professionalism Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.
Mr. Prol, who concentrates his practice on environmental law, recently completed his term as the President of the New Jersey State Bar Association. During his tenure, he spearheaded efforts to ratify the long-delayed Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution and advanced other efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the legal system. For over a decade, Prol has been a vocal advocate on civil rights issues, and was a prominent voice pushing for marriage equality in New Jersey, as well as the state’s anti-bullying legislation. He serves as a member of the board of Garden State Equality, New Jersey’s leading LGBT rights organization.
The New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law is a cooperative venture of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the state and federal judiciary, and New Jersey's three law schools.
