Hamburg native commissioned into Marine Corps.

HAMBURG — John R. Rueckel III was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The Commissioning ceremony was performed at the Hamburg Fire Department on Wallkill Avenue. John completed Marine Officer Candidate School in August 2017, at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, and is anticipated to be assigned to Quantico following commissioning to complete further training.
John is a graduate of Wallkill Valley High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, John is a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout, which was awarded at St. Jude's church in Hamburg. He is currently employed by MOOG Aerospace in Buffalo.
