Hackettstown High School defeated Jefferson Township High School in varsity football on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018. The final score was 7-3.
Neither side was able to score in the first half. The Falcons almost executed a wide receiver reverse pass on fourth-and-goal with Matt Cappello finding Matthew Johnson towards the back of the end zone. Johnson caught the ball but was ruled out of bounds. In the third quarter Jefferson would settle for a Matthew Johnson kicked 32-yard field goal which would be the only points the team would score.
Hackettstown running back Matt Castro had a productive evening scoring the games only touchdown and gained 132 yards in the process. Castro's 5 yard touchdown run happened in the fourth quarter. The touchdown was accompanied by a Dennis Bishtriku extra point kick.
