Councilman suggests updating bike paths

OGDENSBURG — Councilman Anthony Nasisi reported an idea to revitalize Ogdensburg area trails for bike paths, which had been presented at the monthly Land Use meeting.
He also said, Ogdensburg is currently reviewing the Master Plan, and a NJDOT Grant for bike paths is available.
Nasisi later suggested a Borough Hall landscaping project.
Mayor Rachel Slater said they could include a new Borough Hall sign which would match the other town signs.
During public comment, Suzanne Mazur and Marjorie Strohsahl presented Sparta Woman's Club new community improvement project — the Vial of Life. The Vial of Life, Mazur explained, is a lifesaving kit containing medical information. She added, the clear plastic bag is placed on the front door of residents' refrigerators and a sticker on front doors. The information, Mazur continued, would be helpful for emergency responders — when someone is unable to speak for oneself, or a family member cannot remember important medical information due to anxiety.
Mazur concluded, the woman's club has already distributed free packets to the Sparta area and would like to complete a second phase in other Sussex County communities. Mazur and Strohsahl then asked Ogdensburg to be their first pilot. Officials agreed and will choose a contact to work with them.
Resident Patrick Kalafut asked when Heater's Pond would be restocked with fish and how many fish.
Councilman Peter Opilla said, before restocking Heater's Pond, they need to equalize the water levels. He said the equalizing boards work differently since Heater's Pond Dam was armored. When they are able, he continued, they will try to match around 800 fish which were removed from the pond — probably including Bass and Crappie fish.
Resident Santiago Una informed the council that the Elizabethtown Gas hot-line did not return two of his calls. Slater said, the borough would contact Elizabethtown Gas regarding residents not receiving responses from the hot-line. She added, if residents do not receive responses from Elizabethtown Gas, they should contact borough hall, and the borough will notify Elizabethtown Gas.
Slater also reported the Code Book chapters 1 – through - 29 is finished, but still needs some editing.
